Harnessing capabilities in controlled inorganic nanomaterial synthesis, interface chemistry and organic synthesis under the same umbrella, the overarching research theme of Prof. Lu’s functional materials lab is to rationally design, synthesize and fabricate high-performance functional material platforms. Exploiting unique properties of nanomaterials and polymeric materials, new types of material systems that are capable of efficiently converting one type of energy into another are being established. New and efficient energy conversion and storage are the subject of fundamental scientific investigations and essential for a wide variety of applications including life science, green energy conversion and storage, as well as artificial intelligence.
